May Vaughan
I've always loved writing, and when i was younger i won a few short story and play-writing competitions, such as Heartbreak's tell a story competition. My first luck with any poetry was when i was highly commended in the Stratford literary festival competition. I later won the Canterbury Tales Chaucer Young Poets Competition 2023, and was highly commended in the Hen-Harrier Young Wild Writer's Competition 2023. Over the Summer, i won first place, and the Muriel Kilding cup in the Leamington competitive festival, verse and prose category. In October, i became Warwickshire Young Poet Laureate, after being shortlisted the previous year. Since then, i have attended open mics around Warwickshire, such as the Coventry Wordplay, and fire and dust. In December, i won first place in the solstice nature prize for young writers.
